codex_aleraHey. Just found this community, but (as my friends will tell you) I analyze this series a bit too in depth. Can't help but love Butcher -- as a huge fan of Melanie Rawn's Exiles series, which is going on ten-plus years between novels, I'm almost willing to sacrifice goats to an author who can churn out top-quality books so quickly.
SPOILERS within my answers.
Why did you start reading the Codex Alera series?
I was a fan of the Dresden series and loved his description of a protagonist who had to out-wit his enemies.
Who is your favourite character?
Probably Antillar Maximus, although I also love Tavi and Kitai.
Do you think Gaius makes a good First Lord?
Yes, I do. He's smart enough to know when to use force and when to let things play themselves out. He's manipulative, but doesn't seek to beat down or enslave regular people, but rather seems to genuinely care about them.
Do you believe Tavi will ever have a fury of his own?
I have a hunch. =)
If you had to align yourself with one of the High Lords, which would it be?
I would choose Gaius, actually. If that's not an option, I think I'd either choose Placidus or Aquataine. In the beginning of the first novel, I think Fidelius's words to Amara about the inevitable downfall of the House of Gaius were correct, given the lack of an heir. Of course, that's kind of a moot point now, but still.
What is your favourite scene/moment in Furies of Calderon?
In Calderon? I have two. The first is Amara challenging Pirellus to a duel. I love his honest confusion, and I really love how she plays her cards to force him to raise the troops of Garrison. The second is in Doroga's duel with Asturak, when he drops his club and says, "I remember the Fox." Just awesome.
If you had a fury, what element do you believe it would be?
I would likely be a metalcrafter or windcrafter.
If you were sent to Alera, and could take one item from our world with you, what would it be?
Oh, geez. Are my glasses an option? =)
What do you hope to get out of this community?

Seriously, this would take far too long. It is a long and complex amalgamation of different names taken from a long-ass time on the internet. "Callipygian" means, "to have shapely buttocks," and really, that should tell you all you need to know to know you don't want to know more.
