codex_aleraTen Questions
Why did you start reading the Codex Alera series? I picked up the first Dresden book on a whim years ago. It caught my eye, looked interesting, and I had the money, so it came home with me. Every time I went into a bookstore after that, I'd look for something else by Jim, 'cause I love his writing style. Once I found the first Alera book, I *devoured* it. I'm a gamer, and this book reads like a roleplaying campaign. I could even see how the furies could be done in a RP environment, and I was fascinated.
Oh, and the story was excellent, too. ;)
Who is your favourite character? Hmmm... Tavi, of course, is a favorite... as is Kitai. I also really like Amara.
Do you think Gaius makes a good First Lord? I think Gaius is in a difficult position, and I think he does the best with what he has. Does he make mistakes? Of course. But in the end, he is doing what he feels is best for his land, and not what he feels is best for Gauis Sextus... so yes, I think he is a good First Lord.
Do you believe Tavi will ever have a fury of his own? If you'd asked me this a couple of months ago, I would have said "no". ;)
If you had to align yourself with one of the High Lords, which would it be? Knowing what we know as outsiders, I'd say Placida. If I was actually caught up in the middle of it without any outside knowledge... probably the Aquitaines.
What is your favourite scene/moment in Furies of Calderon? This is actually one I'll have to think about... 'cause no specific thing is coming to mind.
If you had a fury, what element do you believe it would be? I'm fairly certain it would be water, because I'm already naturally empathic and a healer. :p
If you were sent to Alera, and could take one item from our world with you, what would it be? I have absolutely no clue.
What do you hope to get out of this community? I love these books, and have dragged one of my friends into the obsession, too... but I don't have anyone other than him to discuss the books with. So I'm hoping for intelligent discussion beyond "OMG! That book Rox!" ;)
Please explain your lj name. It's a name I made up... oh, about 10-12 years ago. No specific meaning, I just needed a name for a female white tiger, and "Moryssa" seemed to fit. And it stuck. I've been Moryssa ever since. (except when I was Morgana or Grizabella :) )
