Bunch of stuff. Book 4 title!

Many people have been able to get Cursor's Fury early (myself included). Feel free to discuss the book, as long as you keep it behind a cut.

I've revamped and updated the user info, including adding more to the interests. Look for a new layout coming soon.

Jim's site has released the title for Book 4! CAPTAIN'S FURY

If anyone has suggestions on how to get discussions going here, please, feel free to let me know. I'd like to have other people posting other than me.

Sigh... I haven't been able to get my copy even though I placed an order with my bookshop... sheesh~ Singapore bookstores take so long to import in books from the US... Anyway, since i just joined this discussion, i was thinking perhaps we could discuss jim's plans for future books and possible plots... :P Yah,and we could discuss cursor's fury too(i more or less know the plot from online spoilers..haha)

haha... na, I ordered a book once from amazon.com, shipping fees were horrendous($$)!! :P I've already ordered a copy of CF from a bookshop... though I think it'll take at least 1-2 weeks...
ya, so anyway, I think Jim said he'd write 6 books right, and since there's 2 more unknown titles, I was thinking that we could guess future book names.. Hmmm... since book 4 is captain's fury, maybe book 5 is (er..what higher rank than captain is there?) Princep's fury?? 6th book is... High Lord's fury? :D

Is that so(great minds think alike?)? haha...although...there's not much of a choice is there...(Octavian's fury? fury of octavian? alera's fury??) :p Yeah, so anyway, i saw this quote:

Alia said "Hail, Octavian," when she died

and I was wandering who is she? Also, I think this shows that even though tavi is unaware of his heritage, others around him are becomming suspicious of his true identity! Oh no!! He'll be beset by assasins! Perhaps the next book deals with this.... :)

OH! sheesh...I forgot... :( Sigh~ Anyway, Gaius and Fidelias both agreed that tavi won't be able to hide his heritage any longer, and that soon others will guess his true identity... Most certainly, the Aquitaines will start to guess(though maybe not kalare... he's rather short-sighted and dumb). I mean, tavi is definitely starting to resemble his father and perhaps even coming into his furies! So, pple will start to draw a connection btw tavi(septimus look-alike) and gaius! :)

In addition, this quote from:
CF (page 435)
"Then Marcus sighed, 'Crows take it, Sextus. If only I'd known."
shows that Fidelias has accepted tavi as the rightful heir to the throne! So, I think the next book will be focused on tavi learning about his birthright and coming to terms with his heritage(all the while coping with assassination attempts and his compulsory legionnaire training of 3 yrs)

Plus, I came across this arguement that since Septimus came into his first furies when he was five, and apparently used a fire fury to start the nursery on fire. Tavi, who has now been away from the Calderon Valley for five years, also away from the powerful water furies that his 'aunt' was using to suppress his furies.(yin yang effect, where water suppressed the fire furies?) And the first fury that responded to him was a fury lamp, a fire fury.
WOW! excellent thesis that I totally agree with~

I'm a bit of a Roman history buff... I just saw this community and thought about posting some of the stuff I've learned doing research. For instance: the Roman leader who organized the Legions into what we think of as the Legion formations was named Gaius Marius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaius_Marius). =)

I don't know if there's any audience for that kind of thing... but maybe it would get some conversation going.
