codex_aleraWhy did you start reading the Codex Alera series? I happened to see Book Three in the bookstore earlier this month, realized it was the same author who wrote The Dresden Files, and decided to give it a try since I'm a huge fan of fantasy, as well as Jim Butcher's other series. *g*
Who is your favourite character? I have only read the first book so far, but I'd have to say that my favorite character is Tavi. Is that boring and predictable? I like that he's able to accomplish so much with, as he sees it, so little.
Do you think Gaius makes a good First Lord? I don't feel like I learned enough about him in the first book to give an informed answer. I'd have to say, from what I know, that he makes a good enough First Lord. The question is, has he become as complacent about the future as Fidelias fears? Or has he been putting everyone off because he has secrets of his own? *coff* secret heir *coff*
Do you believe Tavi will ever have a fury of his own? Based on the hints in the first book, I think that Tavi is either Gaius' grandson or he will become a powerful fury wielder, perhaps having all five. Or both.
If you had to align yourself with one of the High Lords, which would it be? The only High Lord I remember from the first book is Aquitaine, so I'd have to postpone my alignment until I've read the second book. *g*
What is your favourite scene/moment in Furies of Calderon? My favorite moments were the ones where my expectations were turned on their head, such as Amara and Bernard's attraction, Kitai being female and "bonding" with Tavi, Isana's secrets, whatever they might be. If I had to pick one favorite scene, it would be Tavi and Doroga on the gargant, and Tavi yelling to his uncle, "He followed me home! Can we keep him?"
If you had a fury, what element do you believe it would be? Probably earth.
If you were sent to Alera, and could take one item from our world with you, what would it be? Laptop. It's apparently attached at my hip, already. And hopefully they'd be able to rig up a battery for it. *g*
What do you hope to get out of this community? Discussion, squee, the knowledge that I'm not alone in my enjoyment of the book.
