2 weeks until book 5 is released. For the first time since book 1, I've stayed completely spoiler free. Which is completely abnormal for me. :) I've not visited the forum, nor read the sample chapters.

I hope Princeps Fury sparks some good conversation with us here, as I know it's been fairly lacking.

I absolutely cannot wait until the book comes out! I've read the sample chapters (highlight of my week! lol) and it looks EPIC.
Unfortunately I'm wayyyy down at #16 on the local library's hold list, despite reserving it a few months ago (goes to show how popular it is), so it's gonna take me a while to get my hands on it :(

I know I don't know you, so I won't do it, but whenever someone says they're spoiler-free I always like to make up completely ridiculous spoilers and relate them in the most serious, matter-of-fact way possible.

Snape kills Tavi! Invidia is the sled! Ehren sees dead people!

That said, this book kicks seven kinds of ass. I can't wait for it to come out, so I can finally discuss it with my fellow fans!

Ooh, you're betaing her paranormal romance series? Awesome! I'm not really into romance, so I only read the first half of it or so, but I can tell it's going to be a major hit. Shannon has some amazing ideas, and I can't wait for the sci-fi/fantasy world to know of her brilliance.

Stupid Butcher family, hogging all the awesomeness...

Nice!

Though re: "The way Priscilla does for Jim"...

I am so, so sorry. I promise that the memorial service we hold for your life will be tasteful. :D

I'm just happy that some beautiful and brilliant sample of humanity managed to get the release date moved up one week to the same date as the audiobook. I mean, were she Catholic, she deserves sainthood.

Episcopalian, sadly. But I can always convert! :D

I tried to get lightning to strike the same place twice when Amazon mistakenly listed the release date for the Turn Coat audio book as April 2nd (compared to the hardback's April 7th release), but I was unsuccessful. The 2nd isn't even a Tuesday. Oh well! One miracle per year is still an acceptable record.

Ah, that's okay, I'm not Catholic, either. (Raised Episcopalian, myself. Go figure.)

I'm getting married April 4th, you almost destroyed my marriage! =) I would've read and promptly re-read the book, as I always do for books I'm excited about, and my fiancee probably would've stabbed me when I didn't help out with organizing out-of-town guests or something else. Now I'll just have a wonderful gift awaiting me when I return from the honeymoon. =)

Are the finishing touches done on Turn Coat? Although I've traditionally been more of an Alera fan than Dresden, I'm a bit more psyched for Turn Coat simply because I'm afraid of the Han-Solo-trapped-in-carbonite ending that's sure to come in Princep's Fury -- it's the second-to-last book so I'm sure it'll get the endgame started but not resolved, whereas TC is in the middle of the series so I'm hoping it'll be like Cursor's Fury and give us some awesome reveal moments. (And, yes, I realize that reading fan supposition when you know what's happened has to be like crack to you -- I certainly don't mind providing.)

Congrats! Now we'll only ruin your honeymoon!

Oh, god, I wish. Jim is still madly plugging away on Turn Coat. He took on way too many non-novel projects this year, then there was the move, then there were fifty trillions cons... I do not envy his mental status right now.

Though as for being more psyched for Turn Coat than Princeps' Fury... You are crazy. Princeps' Fury is freaking amazing. I read the last chapter on a bus, and I was actually writhing with glee at the last page. WRITHING. IN PUBLIC. Fortunately, I am a New Yorker, so no one cared.

Hey, speaking of Alera and betaing, I got an Alera assignment for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. Will you be my beta?

(Does any actual Alera fanfic exist, other than those two stories in the slash comm? It's kind of unsettling.)

Oh, no, no, no. I didn't say I thought Turn Coat would be better than Princeps' Fury, just that I'm anticipating it more. I'm pretty certain that PF is going to make me crave the next Codex Alera book like a frothing madman for an entire calendar year, and no one is looking forward to a grown man drooling. =)

Did you ever read the unfinished Exiles series by Melanie Rawn? She kills off one of the most fascinating characters in heartbreaking fashion, then shows said character's significant other having a kind of breakdown moment... and now it's been over ten years with no sequel. Brutal.
